Academic Scholarship 2019 | Announcing the WinnerThis year's Hackard Law Academic Scholarship Contest posed the question, "What will you do to improve the lives of the elderly in your community?" Our choice of topic is not accidental - after all, our firm is focused on estate and trust litigation, often in connection with issues like elder financial abuse. Part of our mission is protecting seniors from harm, so we looked to award the prize to a student committed to the wellbeing of elders.

Competition this time around was tough - we reviewed many submission videos from many worthy candidates. It was especially encouraging to see all the love and positivity. Contestants are caring for their family and neighbors, serving their communities, sharing time with their elderly loved ones, and even conducting technical and medical research to improve elders' lives. In our fast-paced society, I'm glad that you haven't forgotten its most lonely and vulnerable members.

So this year, I'm pleased to announce that Nyssa Fine is the winner of the $2,500 prize for the Hackard Law Academic Scholarship Contest. Nyssa is a nursing student at Arizona State University and cares for elders as part of her training. She was raised by her grandparents, and now she is giving back. We congratulate Nyssa on winning the scholarship; she's earned it.

I wish all of you success in your academic and professional careers, and you have my gratitude for your hard work and effort. Maintain your positive outlook on life and be an inspiration to others.
